Drawings & Paintings
Drawing has always been my first love, so that means I have many, many drawing pads filled or partially filled. I've used a great variety of media for my drawings: colored pencils, oil pastels, pens, grease crayons, graphite, and markers. I also experiment with a wide variety of papers including handmade and black paper.
Oil paint was the first medium I was taught to work with. Although it requires great patience, it is incomparable in many respects. My work in acrylic, gouache, egg tempera, watercolor and fresco have all added something special to my painting experiences.
I find tremendous inspiration from the natural world for my subject matter. It is exhilarating to be alive, and I want my work to reflect even a glimpse of that. Sometimes I've struggled in my studio after working on a painting, only to walk outside and be overwhelmed by the sky and beautiful colors all about me. There is no matching the handiwork of the Creator and the timeless beauty of our Mother Earth.
